Loading and unloading activities are a crucial aspect of tanker ship operations that significantly affect logistics flow, sailing schedules, and operational costs. In practice, delays in the loading and unloading process still frequently occur, leading to losses such as increased demurrage costs, idle time, and disruption of subsequent sailing schedules. This issue is also experienced on board MT. Edricko 11, making it necessary to analyze the factors causing delays, the implementation procedures, and the obstacles encountered during asphalt cargo operations. This study aims to identify the factors causing delays, examine the loading and unloading procedures, and analyze the obstacles encountered during asphalt cargo operations on MT. Edricko 11. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through direct observation and interviews with three key informants, namely the Chief Officer, the Third Officer, and an Able Seaman, during the author's sea practice period. The results show that delays are influenced by suboptimal condition of cargo handling equipment, the lengthy heating process required for asphalt cargo, fluctuations in pump pressure, coordination with terminal parties that has not been optimal, as well as environmental factors and limited human resources. The loading and unloading procedures have been carried out systematically in accordance with company operational standards, although technical and non-technical obstacles affecting time efficiency remain. Therefore, improvements in equipment readiness, cargo temperature control, operational coordination, and supervision are needed to enhance the efficiency of loading and unloading activities on MT. Edricko 11.
